On Sunday, November 6, 2016, Dr. Shawkat Sindy a lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Zakho, gave a lecture in the fifth anniversary of the death of the Kurdish poet Omerê Laalê. That ceremony was held by the Barzani organization in Sulaimani, at the end of the ceremony they honored Dr. Shawkat Sindy by giving them the yearly award of Omerê Laalê.

On Thursday, November 17, 2016, Dr. Shawkat Sindy participate in a debate entitled (national idea of the Kurdish classic like: melayê Jizîrî, Jeger khoin, Omerê Laalê, Tîrêj.

Worth mentioning, that debate was supervision under the Union of Kurdish writers of the western Kurdistan, in the Capital hotel of Erbil.

On Friday, November 11, 2016, on the other cultural activities Dr. Shawkat Sindy gave a lecture entitled (kurdology and the importance of the Kurdish language).

Furthermore, these activities were organized by the Institute of Khani to teach the Kurdish language.
